Our School’s Christian Values – Hope

Our School’s Christian Values – Hope

At Baschurch, our Christian values guide and inspire us each day. This half term, we are focusing on the value of Hope — believing in good things to come, trusting in God’s promises, and having confidence that challenges can be overcome.

Through our worship, lessons and daily interactions, we will encourage children to reflect on hope by:

– Learning from the example of Jesus, who brought hope to others through His words, actions and compassion.
– Exploring why hope is important, especially during difficult times, and how it helps us stay positive and resilient.
– Encouraging children to look forward with confidence, support one another, and recognise signs of hope in everyday life.

We invite you to join us in exploring this value at home by talking about what hope means and how it can help us when things feel challenging. This could include discussing hopes for the future, recognising moments that bring encouragement, and noticing how hope helps us persevere and grow. Please see the link for ideas on how you can explore this value together as a family.

Worship Council

Our Worship Council have had a fabulous morning working with Mrs Gamble from the Lichfield Diocese.
They have been learning about what makes worship meaningful and the key elements that help worship be inclusive, reflective and rooted in our Christian vision. The children showed excellent confidence, thoughtfulness and teamwork, demonstrating strong pupil leadership and a growing understanding of how worship helps our school community to live out our shared values.
They are now ready and excited to take on responsibility for planning and leading worship across the school. We are incredibly proud of the way they are using their voices to serve others and help shape the spiritual life of our school.

Year 6 Science

🧪 Year 6 Science Investigation 👀✨
Friday afternoon, Year 6 became scientists as they investigated how our pupils change size in different lighting conditions 🌤️🌑
By comparing brighter and darker environments, the children carefully observed what happened to the pupils in our eyes. They discovered that pupils get smaller in bright light and larger in darker conditions, helping us protect our eyes and see more clearly.
The class worked brilliantly, making close observations, recording results and using scientific vocabulary to explain their findings. There were lots of curious questions and thoughtful discussions along the way 🔬👏
A fantastic hands-on investigation that really brought our learning about the human body to life — well done, Year 6!

R.E

In RE this week, the children in Reception explored the idea of belonging. They talked about the groups they belong to, such as their family, school and clubs, and how being part of a group can make us feel safe and valued. We looked at why groups use symbols and logos, including those used by people from different religions to show belonging. The children learned about religious symbols such as the cross and where they might be seen. They then used play-doh, peg boards and drawings to create their own versions of these symbols, helping them remember what each one represents.

Our School’s Christian Values – Truthfulness

Our School’s Christian Values – Truthfulness

Dear Parents/Carers,

At Baschurch, our Christian values guide and inspire us each day. This half term, we are focusing on the value of Truthfulness — being honest in our words and actions, acting with integrity, and building trust in our relationships with others.

Through our worship, lessons and daily interactions, we will encourage children to reflect on truthfulness by:

– Learning from the example of Jesus, who taught the importance of truth, honesty and living with integrity.
– Exploring why telling the truth matters, even when it is difficult, and how honesty helps build trust and strong relationships.
– Encouraging children to be truthful in their choices, take responsibility for their actions, and speak with kindness and respect.

We invite you to join us in exploring this value at home by talking about the importance of honesty and trust in everyday life. This could include discussing how it feels when people are truthful, how to make things right after a mistake, and how being honest helps us grow. Please see the link for ideas on how you can explore this value together as a family.

Hello Yellow – World Mental Health Day

Dear parents and carers,
Our school will be taking part in Hello Yellow on Friday 10th October (World
Mental Health Day) to raise awareness and funds for YoungMinds, the UK’s
leading charity for young people’s mental health.
No young person should feel alone with their mental health and that’s why
Hello Yellow matters. We’re taking this opportunity as a school community to
come together and show our students that we’re with them and they’re never
alone with their mental health.
We’ll be taking part by wearing YELLOW on Friday 10th October.
You can also donate to support our school’s fundraising – YoungMinds – Baschurch CE Primary School

Most importantly, we want to share the resources which YoungMinds offer to
support parents and carers if you ever need help and advice to support your
children. This includes:
• online resources (www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/)
• a phone line, open 9.30am-4pm (0808 802 5544)
• an online chat for parents and carers to speak to trained
professionals if you’re concerned about your children’s mental
health (www.youngminds.org.uk/parents-helpline/)

Online Safety

In today’s digital world, children have greater access to technology than ever before. While the internet offers many educational and social benefits, it’s essential to ensure that children stay safe online. We teach our students about the importance of staying safe online and the lasting impact their digital footprint can have on their future. However, we greatly appreciate the support you provide at home in reinforcing these vital lessons.

We encourage you to:
✅ Monitor your child’s online activity – Know what apps, games, and websites they are using.
✅ Set parental controls – Use filters and privacy settings to protect them from inappropriate content.
✅ Encourage open conversations – Talk to your child about online dangers, including cyberbullying and speaking to strangers.
✅ Promote safe habits – Teach them to use strong passwords, avoid sharing personal information, and think before they post.

For more information on keeping your child safe online, we have compiled a selection of parent guides covering key topics such as age ratings, gaming, popular apps, and managing screen time. You can access these resources on our Online Safety page here: https://www.baschurchprimary.org.uk/home/parents-area/handbook/online-safety/

We appreciate your support in helping to create a safe and responsible online environment for our children.
