Good Morning 🌞Week 6 🌈Monday June 1st 💙Home Learning Activities😊Welcome Back

Hi all,

I hope you have had a good half term holiday and enjoyed lots of outdoor activities.

Thank you to those who have asked, my family and I are doing well and have been enjoying the sunshine too.🌞

Thank you to everyone who has messaged regarding the phased reopening, if you haven’t had time yet I would really appreciate if you could as soon as possible. I am starting to create who will be in each bubble.

This half term I will be setting work slightly differently due to balancing the phased re-opening and online learning. I will set work to cover Monday/Tuesday/Thursday and Friday, Mrs Humphreys will set work on a Wednesday. The work for the week will appear on the Sunday to give you time to have a look through. Please remember these are suggestions and you do not need to complete every activity as I know you have lots of your own creative ideas. I would just like to take this opportunity to reinforce the importance of play in your child’s well-being. There should be plenty of opportunities for play everyday.

The children returning to school on June 8th will be completing the speed sound sessions and Maths activity so in the afternoon you have the option to complete the other activities suggested. Therefore everybody is receiving the same activities.

Maths activities this half term can all be found at www.whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/  There is a video clip and activity for each day. The activities look engaging and a lovely creative way of developing your child’s maths.  We are 1 week behind the planning on White Rose Maths as I like to look at the planning and match suitable activities so we will begin with Summer Term Week 5 this week.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Wider opening of school from 8th June

Dear parents and carers,
The governors of the school have agreed that the school will be ready for wider opening from Monday 8th June. We are still waiting for the risk assessment to be signed off by the local authority but don’t anticipate that this will cause any further delay.
Monday 1st June – school open daily to keyworker children who have pre-booked                                        from 8:30am
Monday 8th June – school open to reception children 9:15-12:00 Monday, Tuesday,                                      Thursday, Friday
Monday  15th June – school open to year 1 children 9:00-12:15 Monday, Tuesday,                                        Thursday, Friday
Urgent Action: please dojo your class teacher if your child will be returning on the 8th (reception) or 15th (year 1)
We are now in a position where we need to collect more definite numbers as to which children will be returning to school when we partially reopen.  Please send your child’s class teacher a message on dojo indicating whether you will or will not be sending your child back to school on these dates. It would be helpful to know as soon as possible but certainly by Sunday 31st May as we will be training staff in school on Monday 1st . As stated in the letter you can change your mind at a later date. Once we have your response, we will be able to start preparing groups and bubbles for your children to be placed in.
Thank you very much for your co-operation.

We are at the end of another half term.I am so proud of how you have been working so hard at home with your families, you are superstars and your grown ups have been amazing too.⭐🤩

Today I would like you to continue with your outdoor activities from yesterday, I have also suggested a couple of other activities you may like to do. I have included a few ideas for half term activities if you would like to take a look. Speed sounds lessons continue through half term but please don’t feel they are necessary as you all deserve a rest after working so hard.

Literacy

Speeds Sounds Lesson available on YouTube for 24 hours
9.30am Set 1 Sound ‘s’

10.00am Set 2 Sound ‘ir’  (whirl and twirl)

10.30 am Set 3 Sound ‘oi’ (spoil the boy) Set 3 restarts

Some of the sounds lesson will begin to be repeated but please still watch them as it takes time time to embed. Revisiting will also develop confidence to recognise and use these sounds speedily in reading and writing.Speed sound lessons will continue during half term for extra practice. After half term Set 2 and 3 Speed Sound lessons will include new words for reading and spelling.

After the sounds lesson it would be great if you could ask your child to make a list of words containing the sound learnt in the lesson. As your child writes the words ask them to underline the sound they have been learning about in the speed sounds lesson.
You can always add a few words from the previous day to encourage speedy recall and writing of sounds.Set 1 Draw and label pictures of animals/objects that begin with the sound learnt and practise forming correctly on paper, finger painting, outside with chalks
Set 2 & 3 Ask your children to draw a picture of the rhyme that goes with the sound and then ask them to write a sentence to go with it. It can be a silly sentence to add some fun.Encourage use of a capital letter, full stop and correct letter formation. You can make the sentence more complex if your child is happy to have a go. Please remember we only expect the children to spell words correctly that they are familiar with from sounds lessons, tricky trucks, reading
The speed sound lessons are the essential activity each day however I really do think the Talk for Writing home-school booklet is a fantastic resource. There will be one unit every fortnight so if you would like to complete the unit at your own pace that would be brilliant. www.talk4writing co.uk   The second unit is The Amazing Adventures of Max – Reception Unit.

Some suggestions for half term activities

Family hand print keepsake. There are so many ideas online that I’m sure you could recreate one as a lovely keepsake.

Make your own Tic, Tac Toe game. You could use a theme that reflects what you love eg. Peter Pan, ladybirds, dinosaurs, fairies

Make your own twirling ribbon sticks by collecting sticks and tying ribbons securely to one end.

Have a super half term, and hopefully the sun will shine for us.Take Care🌞🌈💙
