🌸Summer Term🌸

🌸Summer Term🌸
We have had a great first week back.
The children have spent time creating some lovely story maps about their trip to Dudley Zoo and have done a fantastic job of them.
The home school task of creating a garden decoration has seen the children making some absolutely fantastic mobiles, flowers and plant pots. The children are sharing them with the class and talking about how they were created and the materials they used. One beautiful design incorporated a humming bird so we used this opportunity to find out some facts about this amazing little bird. We will be finding a special place in our garden next week to place the creations to enhance our garden area and discourage the pesky pigeons!
Thank you to the parents who have already volunteered to come and talk about their jobs with us, if anybody else would like to join in please send me a message and I will suggest some dates for you to come and visit us.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
😊

🌸Spring Term🌸

This week we have spent time exploring how we celebrate Mother’s Day. We have talked about celebrating love, kindness and care. It maybe our mummy, grandmothers, aunties, stepmoms, carers or other role models who guide us, give us hope and love us everyday.
We had a lovely story about a baby owl and a mummy owl which was shared by our mystery storyteller this Friday. Thank you for visiting us it was a perfect way to end the week.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
😊

🌿Spring Term 2🌿Week 1/2 🌿

We have had a lovely, busy couple of weeks in class!
The first week back the children spent time exploring Chinese New Year.
We learned about Chinese New Year, exploring some traditions and the zodiac animals. The children also practised writing Chinese numbers using mud and sticks in Forest School.
This week in Forest School, the children went on a spring hunt, spotting buds, shoots, and other signs that spring is on the way.
Spring in our forest school and in our own gardens is a lovely way to understand our Christian Value of Hope. When spring comes something wonderful happens as little green shoots push up through the soil just like how God is always at work bringing new life, new beginnings and hope.
Thank you for the fantastic effort with World Book Day costumes. The children looked amazing as their favourite characters and enjoyed sharing their love of stories.
A big thank you to our super grown-ups who came in as mystery storytellers. The children loved guessing who was reading the story before the big reveal!
Wishing you a lovely weekend!
😊

🍁Week 9🍁

I hope you have all had a great half term, it has been lovely to welcome the children back this week.
We have been thinking about our new value this half term which is Service and this has lent itself to learn about Poppy Day.
In Freddy Phonics we have split into two groups so we now have Hares and Owls. We are working really hard to blend our sounds together to read words.
In maths we have been enjoying playing Shuffle, Shuffle Group which involves recognising numerals, subitising and teamwork.
In Forest school we worked in pairs to select leaves we thought would make great leaf prints for our bonfire pictures, which all turned out well.
😊

🍂Week 8🍂

A busy week to finish off our first half term. The children have enjoyed learning about Diwali through listening to stories, making divas and lanterns, using rice, chalk and natural materials to make rangoli patterns and ordering numbers and quantities with a Diwali theme.
I am so proud with how they have settled.

Wishing you all a fantastic half term.

🍂Week 7🍂

We have had a great week. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate our Harvest Festival at the church, it was great to see so many of you. The children sang their song beautifully and it was a great way to celebrate Harvest along with a selection of poems, prayers and songs shared by the other classes in our school.
We have been busy with lots of numbers activities, subtilising and ordering numerals. In Forest school we have been talking about Autumn and about camouflage. We made some pretend binoculars which had to be camouflaged using leaves and twigs.
We look forward to Week 8 and we will be thinking more about Autumn, recognising and writing numerals, and learning the rest of our single letter sounds.
😊

🍁Week 6🍁

This week has been busy with Forest School, our first school disco and Wear Yellow day along with all the other areas of learning we do weekly.
We had a chance to explore our new mud kitchen and table which was funded by our super Friends of Baschurch. Thank you so much for your dedication and support to raise funds to provide equipment like this for all the children in our school to enjoy and extend their learning.
The school disco was exciting and the perfect opportunity to showcase some groovy dance moves.

On Friday we had a big focus on what makes us happy and talking about how we all have different feelings which is healthy to have, along with how we use them is really important.
We are preparing for our song to sing at the Harvest Festival and we are really excited to sing our song for you all. Please come along to the Church to celebrate with us on Tuesday morning. A warm welcome awaits you.
Have a lovely weekend.
😊

🍂Week 5🍂

The children have enjoyed sharing photos of their pets and some children have started to paint them. If you haven’t sent a photo yet there is time to this weekend.
Forest School was a time to explore, dig, make dens and set up our new mud kitchen.
In maths we have been counting forwards and backwards using songs to help us along with counting and writing the totals.
In Freddy Phonics we had a go at Speed Write which is a great way to recall what a sound looks like as a letter (grapheme). The grown up says a sound and the child writes it down as fast as they can, then repeat with different sounds. Set a target, how many can you write in a minute.
Next week is looking very exciting with the School Disco and Hello Yellow on Friday.
I will send more info about both in a separate post.
Have a lovely weekend.
😊

🍂Week 4🍂

Another week has flown by and although tired the children have settled so well. We are so proud of them. We have been busy covering all areas of learning and the children have a new system when selecting the areas they want to spend time in, which they have already got to grips with. In Freddy phonics we are remembering the sounds learnt, trying really hard to form our letters correctly and starting to label our pictures with the sounds we can hear. In maths we are singing lots of number songs and working out one more and one less. In PE we had a great time developing different types of throwing skills.
Next week we will talk about our pets and start to think about Autumn and Harvest.
Have a lovely weekend.
