KEEPING OUR CHILDREN SAFE
At the start of the new school year we would like to remind you, or, if you are new parents let you know, of a few things regarding safeguarding and safety. Our site is already tight for space and as you may be aware, building work will be starting soon on our new classroom, which will further impact on this. We will keep you informed as to any changes to access to the school.
Parking
Eyton Lane is a very busy road in the mornings and parking is very limited. If you can walk to school, please do so. Parking is available in Church Road or at the village hall. The Corbet will allow you to drop off in their car park at the end closest to us but please do not block the emergency access at the side of the community hall.
There is NO parking available in our own car park. We already have staff parking offsite as there is no space. Parents must not park in the staff car park at any time unless they are collecting a sick child.
Staff may have to leave at any time during the day and on occasions have been late for meetings because they have been blocked in by a parent. If you park in our car park and get blocked in by a member of staff, you may have to wait until their next break, or for a meeting to finish, before they can move their car. If you have a medical disability which prevents you from walking too far, please ask at the office for a permit, which you must display.
Equally please do not walk through the car park. There is clear signage stating that there is no pedestrian access. We are concerned that children are not always visible in the car park and we do not want to have an avoidable accident.
Coaches
If, when walking to school you notice a coach on the kerb or driving in a way you consider inappropriate, please, please, please come into the school office immediately or email us with as much detail of the incident that you can. We can deal with these issues much more effectively if we can do it on the day.
Dogs
If possible, no dogs should be on any part of the school site. If you must bring them to school, please tie them up at the end of the railings closest to the car park. They are not allowed at all on the playground.
Coming into school
Until half term, the parents of the new reception children can bring them into class in the mornings. Due to safeguarding guidelines, these are the only parents allowed through the wooden gate. If you do need to come into school for any reason, please go to the office so that it can be registered that you are on site.
End of the Day
We do need to use our playground at the end of the day for after school clubs and Little Angels. We lock the gate at 3.25 so would be grateful if you could leave promptly. Also, children playing on the adventure trail must be supervised by an adult at all times as we cannot be held responsible for any accidents that happen after the end of the school day.
Mobile phones
We do not want to have to collect phones from parents when they come into school, so we would ask that they remain in your bag or pocket and switched off when you come for DEAR or suchlike. You will still be able to use them at performances and special assemblies in the hall as usual.
We appreciate that these rules may be difficult but our main concern is the safety and wellbeing of our children and we thank you for your co-operation
