A very happy New Year to you all!

Welcome back! A very happy New Year to you all. We hope you had a fabulous Christmas and New Year and ready for 2026 to begin!

This term we are using the theme of Human’s impact on Earth for our teaching and focus.

We are looking to a packed full term with some exciting new learning and continuing to build on our progress from last term.

Attached is a copy of this term’s curriculum news

Curriculum News

Autumn Term 2

Hope you have all had a great half term and ready for the new term ahead! We are really looking forward to catching up with you all and your news! Just a polite reminder that next week we will be representing our school at All Saints Church for their annual Remembrance Service. Some children will be taking part in reading poems or laying wreaths.

Please could the class be dressed as evacuees once again to mark this event? Thank you

I have summarised below some dates for the diary for the term so far.

Good Luck and Farewell

We had a very special day marking the departure of a very special member of the class as she leaves for her new school and exciting adventures ahead. Although she will not be far, we knew it was important to mark this change for us all. A movie afternoon with some treats! Good bye and good luck!

School Games Netball Winners!

SCHOOL GAMES NETBALL 🥇🥈

We kicked off our sporting year with a sunny morning over at the Corbet. It went brilliantly for our netball players, with both of our teams winning all of their games on the way to an all Baschurch final.

In their 14 games, our teams scored a whopping 38 goals between them and conceded only 2.

A massive well done to Team Baschurch.
Our next School Games event is tag rugby on October 22nd!

FAO Parents/Carers of Year 6 Children

Dear Parent/Carer

Your child is due to transfer to secondary school in September 2026.  The online application process opens on the 1 September 2025 and closes on 31 October 2025.  A letter will be sent home with your child, outlining the process.  Alternatively, please follow this link – Apply to start or transfer school | Shropshire Council  which takes you to the Shropshire Council Admissions website.  Details about secondary school open evenings can be found in the Parents’ Guide to Education in Shropshire booklet, on the same website

Applications received by Shropshire Council after the closing date will be classed as late, which may result in your child being disadvantaged, so please ensure you make your application on-time. Late applications will not be processed until all on-time applications have been offered.

Please note your child’s cohort is larger than in previous years.  You can name up to four schools on your application – we encourage parents to make full use of these preferences.  If only one preference is named, and we cannot offer this, we will have no choice on National Offer Day but to offer a place at the next nearest school with a vacancy, which could be a considerable distance from your home address.

Kind Regards

The School Admissions Team

Fletcher’s Two Peak Challenge

On Saturday 5th July Fletcherwill be setting off on an epic 2 Peak Challenge  to raise funds for new playground equipment. Please use the QR code to find his Just Giving page.

“I would like to raise money to go towards the school playground as alot of the equipment has recently been removed due to its age and Friends charity is trying to raise funds to replace it.

I have enjoyed my time at Baschurch and playing outside with all my friends and I want to give something back to show my appreciation and allow other children to carry on enjoying what we had.

Please sponsor me, I am doing my hike on Saturday 5th July.”

Tag Rugby North Shropshire Champions!

After coming 1st and 2nd in the Baschurch Area event earlier this year, our 2 teams travelled to Oswestry Rugby Club this morning for the North Shropshire Finals.

Both teams performed admirably with one of them winning and qualifying for School Games Finals Day, where they will look to come away victorious for the 2nd year in a row.

Well done to all children involved!

GPS Fun!

Wow! I think our heads are all full after that session! We were looking at different words and trying to group them as a noun, verb or both!

Great practise in word classes but also pushing our knowledge and practising taught methods to support using some words as a noun or verb in a sentence by focusing on determiners or pronouns.

PCSO visit

It was a good session with our Community Police Officers from Oswestry. The children had some many questions for them about the police in general and the roles of PCSO in Baschurch. The highlight for some of our students was to try on the uniform and of course the car!
