PCSO visit

It was a good session with our Community Police Officers from Oswestry. The children had some many questions for them about the police in general and the roles of PCSO in Baschurch. The highlight for some of our students was to try on the uniform and of course the car!

Remembrance Day 2024

We could not be more proud of our Year 6 class this morning. They showed such respect and maturity representing our school at the Remembrance Service but also on the tour of the Commonwealth War graves afterwards. The British Legion volunteers took them to place poppies and tell them about each soldier/airmen. Every child listened patiently and were a credit to Baschurch. Well done team! 👏👏👏

School Games High-5 Netball Winners!

A huge well done to both of our teams who took part in the first School Games event of the year at The Corbet this morning.

Both teams won every game and topped their groups, meaning they qualified as joint winners and will go on to represent the Baschurch Area in the North Shropshire Finals later this year.

Tag Rugby School Games Shropshire Champions!

What an achievement for our amazing Tag Rugby Team!

After progressing through two tournaments to qualify, our team started the day confidently, progressing through their group with 5 wins out of 5.

This set up a final with Oswestry School. The step up in quality was evident right from the start with Oswestry taking a 3-1 lead after the first few minutes. But then followed a period of immense defence and outstanding attack from our team, turning the score line around in the middle section of the match and bringing it back to 4-4 with 3 minutes to go. 4-4 became 5-5 setting up a tense final two minutes where one moment of brilliance could make all the difference. The moment of brilliance came from Baschurch, where an excellent team try made the score 6-5. With Oswestry pressing hard in the final minute for a reply, the Baschurch defence forced a turnover and raced over the try line to secure victory.

This win marks an incredible achievement, with over 100 schools and 1000 pupils taking part in the School Games tournament. Well done to all children involved throughout each round!

U11 John Hatfield Village Cup Shropshire Champions!

Our under 11 boys team retained the Village Cup after a 2-0 win over Trinity.

A thrilling game which went from end-to-end saw both teams create numerous clear-cut chances. Baschurch broke the deadlock right before half time through our number 9, Sonny.
The second half continued much the same way as the first, however Trinity were creating the better chances, forcing 2 outstanding saves from man of the match Kieran in goal.
After soaking up all the pressure there was still time for Baschurch to finish off in style, with Seb racing through and calmly finishing in the bottom right corner.

With all but one of the team in year 5, we will look to make it 3 years in a row in 2025!
