Home Learning 7th February PM

Spellings:
How many words can you make using the letters from ‘something’? E.g. me, the, thing, night etc.

Why don’t you try the same activity using the words another, wonderful and perfectly.

ICT:
Remember all computers have wires or batteries, buttons, screen, mouse.
Have a look at the toys (worksheet attached) and decide which of these objects might have a computer inside them. Lesson 3 pics of toys
You will probably decide that all of them could have a computer and battery pack inside them, but it’s unlikely that the teddy bear or dinosaur toy has moving parts or a computer inside.
However, we can’t actually be 100% sure just by looking at them.

Using the worksheet attached go on a hunt around your house to see if you can find anything that has a computer inside of it. Think about the following questions as you do:

What can we see if there are computers inside technology?
Can you see any technology here?
What do you think it does?
Watch carefully, can you see what it’s doing?

Homework books!

I shall be collecting all of the homework books next Tuesday to take a look at all of the things the children have been working on. Please ensure that your child has their homework book in school with them at the beginning of next week.

Thanks,
Miss Clough

Homework Menu – Autumn 1

There has also been a Homework Menu sent home today but please find this attached above also.

Have a nice weekend,
Miss Clough.Homework menu Autumn 1

Friday 11th November

Maths:

Children have been focusing on subtraction using the column method this week. This has been a very tricky concept and although children are starting to pick it up, it would be great if you could spend some time on the homework this week with your child to reinforce this concept.

I shall post a picture of the method so that you can support at home.

English:

This week we have been looking at repetition to add effect to a piece of writing, adding suffixes –ly and –ed words and using onomatopoeia’s to add appropriate detail.

Children also created a talent show poster to accompany our written piece.

Spellings:

Children have all completed their spelling test today and have new spellings in their homework book ready for next week. This will be their last set before the Christmas holidays.

RE:

In Religious Education this week we watched a video and read the Christmas story. The children were encouraged to think about why Baby Jesus was so important and why so many people wanted to go and visit him. We looked at the word ‘incarnation’ which means in human flesh and discussed how Jesus was the son of God and how God had sent him to Earth to help save people.

We then created a list of all the people in the Christmas story that knew Jesus was a special baby.

We also all made Christingles for our Christingle service with Reverend Linda which took place this afternoon. Children have been allowed to bring these home so take great care with them.

This has all tied in really nicely with our Nativity practise. I am hoping to record the video at the beginning of next week and so will have the link sent out by the end of next week for you all to watch (all being well).

Children are allowed to come in Christmas jumpers every day next week but MUST still wear their normal school uniform as well. If they do not wish to wear a Christmas jumper that is fine but they must wear their school jumper instead.

Wednesday 16th – Children can come in party clothes as it is Christmas dinner and Christmas party day.

Have a lovely weekend, Miss Clough.

Listen to the audio of me reading Chapter 1 – https://youtu.be/xpuyuoDLK48

Add some bullet points outlining what we know about these characters so far.

Handwriting and spelling:

Take some time today to practice your handwriting and spelling. Focus on keeping each letter the same size and sat on the line correctly. You could use your spelling words to help with this.

Spelling words are on the spelling page of the School Website.

RE:

We have been focusing on the creation story over the last few weeks. Today I would like you to think about some rules that God (the creator) would put into place to make sure that his creation is properly looked after. What rules would he want us as humans to follow. Remember God put humans on the earth to look after and take care of it but over time lots of people have forgotten this and our planet isn’t the same as it was in the beginning. Think carefully and write down 5 rules you think would be most important.
