Year 2 December 12th

Good afternoon,

Year 2 have had a hectic week with the pantomime and rehearsals for our Nativity play. It was a brilliant production of “Dick Whittington” and enjoyed by all. I think all the costumes have been brought in now, thank you. Next week, there is the Carol service in church on Monday morning and then our Nativity in school on Tuesday at 1.45 and again at 5.30. We look forward to seeing you all.

We’ll have a class party on Thursday and the children can wear a Christmas jumper on that day if they wish. PE is as normal on Wednesday and Friday.

Have a lovely weekend.

Year 2 December 5th

Good afternoon,

This week Year 2 have been busy rehearsing for our “Knock, Knock Nativity”. The children are all working really hard with learning their reading parts and songs. I hope you received the Dojo message about costumes for the nativity. Please start bringing the costumes in next week in a named plastic bag. We have started a new maths unit on shape which the children are really enjoying. In English, the children have been writing leaflets based on London now and in 1666.

Next week is a festive one with Christmas dinner on Wednesday and the pantomime on Thursday. Lots to look forward to. Wednesday is also Christmas jumper day.

Year 2 November 27th

We have had another busy week in Year 2.

The children have made snowflake decorations for the Christmas tree festival in the church. They have decorated biscuits for the school Christmas fayre. We have also started work on our Nativity play, learning songs and rehearsing lines. It’s a hectic time of year. The Nativity will be performed on Tuesday 16th December in the school hall.

We are coming to the end of our English unit on The Great Fire Of London and the children will be writing an information leaflet all about the fire and its impact on the city. In maths, we have been comparing numbers and using the greater than, less than and equal signs.

Year 2 November 7th

I hope you all had a lovely half term. Many of the children celebrated Bonfire night this week and in class we learnt about the history of this tradition and why we remember it. In English, we have written diaries about The Great Fire of London. We have also been thinking about Remembrance and the significance of poppies during our class worship time. In PE we have started a new unit on ball skills. Next week we are all looking forward to our trip to Xplore in Wrexham.

Have a nice weekend.

Year 2 October 24th

We’ve had a busy week finishing our models of carousels. The children have written fire safety rules for people living in London in 1666. We learned about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light and coloured Rangoli patterns.  The children also had fun using tissue paper to create a silhouette of the Great Fire of London. Here are a few photos of their work.  Have a lovely half term.

Year 2 October 17th

The children have produced some super writing about the landmarks of London. They have been working on their teamwork skills in PE with great success. In maths, they have started a new unit of learning based on addition and subtraction.

Year 2 October 13th

In Year 2 we have been busy learning our Harvest song called Paintbox. We have also drawn and coloured fruits and vegetables. The children have also been having lots of fun constructing their carousel wheels in D&T. Last week they wrote stories based on the text” The Queen’s Hat”. We are all looking forward to the Harvest Festival service in church tomorrow.
