It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome back all of your children after the Summer Holidays and we have had a really positive and encouraging week.
After some fun activities on our opening day, including team building, the blob tree and telling me all about their summers and their hopes and dreams for the year we moved onto the curriculum on Thursday and Friday.
In Maths, we are looking at place value and have begun the unit looking at numbers up to 1,000,000. The class have been really focussed and engaged, working so well. In English, we have introduced the author of the text we will be beginning next week, William Shakespeare. We researched his background and created some wonderful factfiles.
In Music, we are learning the ukulele which has been really enjoyable. I’ve joined in with the class and we are doing a really fantastic job with our C to A minor, I must admit. In Art, we have begun a unit all about street art and created some small images in our sketchbooks that looked at key issues the world is facing like pollution, drought, flooding, forest fires etc. In Spanish, we began our unit on ‘la fonetica’. Getting the basic foundations of Spanish before we move onto trickier topics later in the year.
All in all, it has been a really enjoyable return to school.
