Corbet School Band Performance

We were lucky enough to have several members of the Corbet band come and perform for us this morning. All of our children loved the opportunity to experience the ‘live’ element of music and the feedback from them since has been so positive and lovely to hear.

The performance included a solo singer, the clarinet, the flute and a rock band (which was a huge hit)!

Videos and pictures to follow next week.

Hopefully this will inspire some of our young children to consider playing an instrument. We offer keyboard, guitar and drum lessons at school so please do pop in to the office to find out more information if this is something you think your child might like.

Our school choir also have several performances scheduled for the month of December (a letter will be sent home in the coming weeks outlining the dates).

Music lessons

In school we are pleased to be working with Shropshire Music Service to offer individual lessons for violin, brass, drums, piano/keyboard, guitar, recorder and flute. Most instruments can be started from Year 2/3, with the exception of flute which is recommended from Year 4.

Shropshire Music Service are a non-profit council organisation dedicated to providing high quality music education for the county’s young people.  The lessons are not free, but substantial reductions in the cost are available for those in challenging financial circumstances. Shropshire Music Service are committed to supporting students and families on low incomes. Those receiving free school meals or are claiming income support or child tax credits, providing they are not entitled to working tax credits and have an annual family income less than £16,190 are entitled to a maximum remission of £45.00 per term. Those claiming Working Tax Credits will receive a maximum remission of £22.50 per term (only applies to one set of instrumental lessons).  Tuition costs for the first instrument for pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium are covered by the school.
