Additional Bank Holiday & Change to KS2 Assessment Dates 2023
Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III bank holiday
The Government has announced a one-off bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023 to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. School will be closed on this day.
Changes to Key Stage 2 (Year 6) assessment dates in 2023
The Standards Testing Agency published an update to confirm a change to the Key Stage 2 (KS2) test schedule this year due to the announcement of the additional bank holiday, in honour of the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which normally would have been the first day of the 2023 KS2 test week in England.
As Monday 8th May had previously been announced as the first day of the 2023 key stage 2 (KS2) test week in England, a change to the KS2 test schedule will be necessary.
It has been decided that KS2 tests will take place in the same week with tests following the usual order but each taking place one day later than originally planned. As such, the new schedule will be:
- Tuesday 9 May: English grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS) papers 1 (questions) and 2 (spelling)
- Wednesday 10 May: English reading paper
- Thursday 11 May: mathematics papers 1 (arithmetic) and 2 (reasoning)
- Friday 12 May: mathematics paper 3 (reasoning)
If you have any questions, please contact the school office. Thank you.

Happy New Year from The Library!
Thank you so much to everyone who supported our book sale at the Christmas Fayre last term by donating books or by buying them. All money raised from these sales goes towards the purchase of new books for the library. We are always happy to receive donations of good quality books, particularly books aimed at older children (years 4, 5 & 6). Donations can be left in the box at reception.
Library lunchtime club has now restarted with members from years 1 & 2 attending on Tuesdays, years 3 & 4 on Mondays and years 5 & 6 on Fridays. Throughout the year all children are offered the chance to come for half a term. If your child is a member at the moment, please help them to look after their library book and to bring it in on their day. Some children do still have library books from last term so could these be returned now please.
Finally, a big shout out to the Year 6 librarians without whom there would be no library club!
Happy reading,
Miss Lord
Free School Meal Eligibility
Please see attached letter regarding claiming Free School Meals. This also applies to pupils already receiving Universal Free School Meals in YR, Y1 & Y2. If you believe you may qualify, please apply as soon as possible as even if you do not want your child to receive a school dinner, the school will still receive extra funds, which can provide a real difference to the quality of education we provide and provide financial support to those families that are eligible. See more details in the letter. Claims can be made by following this link:
