Mr McGrath paternity leave

Dear class 5 parents,

As you may know, Mr and Mrs McGrath are expecting a baby any day now! We just wanted to let you know that when the baby arrives, Mr McGrath will be taking two week’s paternity leave – this could potentially be next week and the week after. We have luckily been able to book Mr Ansell to cover this and he is on standby! Mr Ansell has been working in year 6 all autumn term so know the school and the children. We will keep you posted with any baby news we receive!

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to postpone our visit to the National Space Centre on Wednesday (25th January).  As soon as a new date for the trip has been arranged, we will let you know as soon as possible.  All payments will be transferred to the new date.  Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and disappointment caused.  Thank you.

Additional Bank Holiday & Change to KS2 Assessment Dates 2023

Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III bank holiday

The Government has announced a one-off bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023 to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. School will be closed on this day.

Changes to Key Stage 2 (Year 6) assessment dates in 2023

The Standards Testing Agency published an update to confirm a change to the Key Stage 2 (KS2) test schedule this year due to the announcement of the additional bank holiday, in honour of the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which normally would have been the first day of the 2023 KS2 test week in England.

As Monday 8th May had previously been announced as the first day of the 2023 key stage 2 (KS2) test week in England, a change to the KS2 test schedule will be necessary.

It has been decided that KS2 tests will take place in the same week with tests following the usual order but each taking place one day later than originally planned. As such, the new schedule will be:

  • Tuesday 9 May: English grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS) papers 1 (questions) and 2 (spelling)
  • Wednesday 10 May: English reading paper
  • Thursday 11 May: mathematics papers 1 (arithmetic) and 2 (reasoning)
  • Friday 12 May: mathematics paper 3 (reasoning)
If you have any questions, please contact the school office. Thank you.
