Our Ofsted report

Dear parents and carers,

We are very pleased to be able to share with you our recent Ofsted report. We are thrilled to have been judged as a Good school, but moreover, we are so pleased that Ofsted recognised what a kind, caring and family-orientated school we are, how happy and proud the children are of the school and that our curriculum is broad and balanced. These things really mean the world to us and the staff work so hard day in and day out to ensure this is the case.

Thank you all for taking the time to talk to Ofsted and fill in the questionnaire – your opinions really matter to us.

We are now looking forward to an action-packed few weeks leading up to the end of term.

Attached is the full Ofsted report for you to read.

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon – Friday 7th July

We are having a Macmillan Coffee Afternoon on Friday 7th July from 3.00pm onwards.  Please come along and support this worthwhile event and bring some friends!

For several years, Irene Rennie (our senior lunchtime supervisor) has worked tirelessly for Macmillan so we hope to add to her fund raising total.

We would be very grateful for donations of cakes.  Please bring all donations (with a list of ingredients) into the school office on the morning of Friday 7th July – they don’t have to be homemade!

Thank you for your support for this worthwhile charity.

Class Photos

All parents should have now received the codes needed to order their child’s class photo, via dojo.  The codes for the Year 6 Individual Leavers Photos will be sent shortly. If you have any problems, or have not received the link, please contact the school office.  Thank you.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.  Thank you.

Safer Schools

Safer Schools

In 2009, our school was accredited a Safer School. This is a school security initiative created by West Mercia Police and supported by Shropshire Council. It includes the following.

  1. Forming a Safer School group representing the school.
  2. Implementing basic security measures applicable at all schools i.e. property marking, and visitor passes.
  3. A proportional pro-active approach to the security/safety/safeguarding of staff, pupils, visitors, premises, property and assets.
  4. Establishing a procedure for surveying perceived issues i.e. an unauthorised thoroughfare or, recording incidents i.e. trespass, anti-social behaviour, vandalism. Any recorded information is then analysed, and appropriate measures implemented.
  5. If there are any projects to be undertaken, they are prioritised. Following the implementation of a project, its success is monitored.
  6. PSHE or education of pupils as per the Safer School pack.

To maintain the accreditation, we have held regular Safer School meetings since our accreditation, and we plan to hold a future meeting.  Part of the Safer School process is gathering the views/concerns of parents/carers. If you have views/concerns, including any positive observations, please could you forward in writing by Thursday 29th June 2023 so they may be considered at a Safer School meeting. The focus is the school grounds/site.

Thank you.

School Playground – End of School Day

We would like to remind you that children should not be playing on the playground or adventure playground at the end of the school day.  Please ensure that you keep any younger siblings with you at all times. As soon as you have collected your children, you must immediately leave the premises. Thank you.

Friends Summer Social – Friday 14th July

Sports Day Week – Food Menu

Sports Day Week!

Sports Day this year will be held on Thursday 6th July – lunch this day will be pizza and chips.

This means that on Friday 7th July – lunch will be ‘big breakfast’ instead of pizza.

Many thanks.

Charity Race Night

Sun Cream & Sunhats ☀️

As the weather is set to be so hot and sunny this week, please could we remind parents to send children to school with a sunhat for break and lunchtimes. Sun cream must be applied before coming to school.  If you wish for sun cream to be reapplied, children must bring their sun cream in their bag and must reapply themselves.  Staff members will not be able to apply the sun cream for them. Thank you.
