School Games Gold Mark 2022/2023

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success for a fourth time, after previously achieving Gold in 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2021/2022.

With a total of over 100 children competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, our Playground Stars and officials who made our competitions possible. As well as competitions in our local area, we have competed in tournaments at St George’s Park (home of the English FA), West Bromwich Albion Academy, Barnsley Academy and Wembley Stadium.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

Our achievements this year include:

U11 Boys Football: EFL Kids Cup National Finalists at Wembley stadium; Shropshire Champions (Small Schools Shield and Village Schools Cup)

U11 Girls Football: St Georges Park 10th Anniversary Winners; Premier League Primary Stars Midlands region Semi-finalists; Shropshire Small Schools Trophy Runners-up.

School Games: Stage 1 winners in Netball, Tag Rugby, Basketball, Sportshall Athletics, Mini-Athletics and Panathlon Ten-Pin Bowling. Stage 2 winners in Basketball.

We look forward to building on last year’s success, providing our children with as many opportunities as possible and applying once again in 2024!
