New Attic Library
We are very excited that our school library is now open in its new attic location! All children in years 1 – 6 will be given the chance to join library and to borrow a book, to read in a quiet space, to look at the books there or to do all three! Reception children will be able to join later in the year, although they are able to use the library space with their TA or their teacher at any time.
Library opening hours will be Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes. If your child borrows a book to bring home, please help him/her to look after it and to bring it back by the date shown. If they have not had time to finish the book, they can bring it in to be renewed though if this is happening multiple times, it is probably not the right book for them. Please note that although our year 6 librarians (and I) can guide children in their book choices, it is ultimately their decision and so the book they choose may not necessarily be at their reading level.
As we want the library to be a peaceful and calming space, we are asking for donations of plants to help create this. If you have any plants you are willing to give, then please leave them at reception.
Also, if anyone has any good quality books they could donate, particularly novels for older children, this would also be much appreciated. (Tom Fletcher books are very popular, which we have none of presently, and also – of course – Harry Potter books). We will start holding book sales shortly so any books which we don’t require, may be donated to go in the book sales. The money raised from these sales will then be used to purchase books which are more in demand.
Thank you all for your support.
