Your child will be bringing home spellings to practise at home as well as in school. We have taught the class the spelling rule in school and will complete several activities and challenges in school to support their learning. It is important that the children practise their spellings daily, but also know their meaning and the rule.
We will be teaching the children different spelling techniques, methods and ideas which might help individual learners and needs to support them learn and use the spellings in their own work.
On Friday, we will test the children on the spellings using a variety of ways to support all spellers. Children will also be given three mystery words each week, these words will mean the children will have to know the rule to support their spelling.
There will be some children bringing home their own list of spellings to support their individual needs, they also have activities and challenges in the week to practise with.

· The r is doubled if the –fer is still stressed when the ending is added.
· The r is not doubled if the –fer is no longer stressed. |
