English – Objective = To answer questions and make inferences and predictions
We started a block of work on the book ‘The Dragon Machine’ last week. So far we have looked at the front cover and predicted what we think the story will be about and what will happen. Have a chat about this and share your ideas! After that, we did a piece of writing where we described what we think the Dragon Machine is like, using sight, sound, touch and what it does.
Today, I’d like to you use https://www.booktrust.org.uk/books-and-reading/have-some-fun/storybooks-and-games/the-dragon-machine/ to listen to the book. Discuss your predictions. Who was closest?
Discuss how George feels at different points in the book. How do you know this? Does the author TELL you how he feels:
“George was very sad.”
Or do they show you:
George slumped against the window and a tear trickled slowly down his face.
Following listening to the story and lots of discussion, I will post some comprehension questions on our Dojo page that you can have a go at.
Maths – Objective = To recognise 1/2 and 2/4 as equivalent fractions
