Welcome back to school and welcome back to Year 6!
We hope you had a fabulous summer and look forward to hearing all about it over the next few days. We are looking forward to working with you and the children in a very exciting and productive year. We hope that the children will enjoy the new challenges and learning that Year 6 has to offer.
This term we will be focusing around 2 themes: The affects of World War 2 on the children of Britain and Remembrance. We have also linked up with the Shrewsbury Bookfest this year and looking forward to finding out which books have made the short list for us to read and vote for.
Here is the curriculum overview for this term:

As part of Year 6, many children and parents choose to allow their child to walk home independently from school. Please could we ask parents/carers to write a note to school giving your permission for this to happen so we can ensure all staff know where your children are going at the end of the day.
You will need to come to school in correct Baschurch PE kit with on Wednesday and Fridays.
Homework will be set every Monday ( for the following Monday) for their reading task and every Wednesday for the following Monday (unless stated) for topic/classroom support. This will involve a a topic/consolidation task of the work completed in school. Your child will be expected to practise their reading and timetables regularly through the week in addition to the tasks set. We cannot stress enough how important daily reading is, even for competent readers, as it helps to build reading stamina.

We look forward to working with you and getting to know you all as the year continues.
